Disk-like Structure in the Semi-regular Pulsating Star, X Her
نویسنده
چکیده
The author reports a result of an interferometric observation of the semiragular pulsating star with an unusual narrow molecular line profile, X Her, in the CO J = 1–0 line with the Berkeley-Illinois-Maryland array. In the CO spectrum, a double-component profile (including narrow and broad components) is seen as reported by previous observations. The narrow component consists of two spiky peaks. The spatial structure of the board component shows bipolar shape, and that of the narrow component shows an elliptical/spherical shape. The two peaks in the narrow component show a systematic difference in the integrated intensity map. The kinematical and geometrical properties of the narrow component are reminiscent of a Keplerian rotating disk with the central mass of 0.9 M⊙, though an interpretation by an expansion disk seems to be more natural. A secondary bipolar flow instead of the disk cannot be fully excluded as an interpretation of the narrow line. Letter to the Editor X-ray observations during a Her X-1 anomalous low-state
Results of a 1999 July 8–10 BeppoSAX observation during an anomalous low-state of Her X-1 are presented. The standard on-state power-law and blackbody continuum model is excluded at high confidence unless partial covering is included. This gives a power-law photon index of 0.63±0.02 and implies that 0.28 ± 0.03 of the flux undergoes additional absorption of (27±7)×1022 atom cm−2. 11% of the obs...
متن کاملA Semi-coherent Search for Weak Pulsations in Aql X–1
Non pulsating neutron stars in low mass X-ray binaries largely outnumber those that show pulsations. The lack of detectable pulses represents a big open problem for two important reasons. The first is that the structure of the accretion flow in the region closest to the neutron star is not well understood and it is therefore unclear what is the mechanism that prevents the pulse formation. The s...

We present broadband, multi-epoch X-ray spectroscopy of the pulsating ultra-luminous X-ray source (ULX) in NGC 5907. Simultaneous XMM-Newton and NuSTAR data from 2014 are best described by a multicolor blackbody model with a temperature gradient as a function of accretion disk radius significantly flatter than expected for a standard thin accretion disk ( μ T r r p ( ) , with = p 0.608 0.012 )....
متن کاملConstraining the shape of the accretion disk in Her X-1: II. EUV observations
The bright X-ray binary pulsar Hercules X-1 has a 35-day cycle in hard x-ray intensity: ”Main High state – low state – Short High state – low state”. This is caused by a tilted-twisted precessing accretion disk. What is less well known is that during low states the soft x-rays and extreme ultraviolet radiation are modulated at the orbital period . This radiation is mainly due to reflection off ...
متن کاملIntermittent Millisecond X-ray Pulsations from the Neutron-star X-ray Transient Sax J1748.9–2021 in the Globular
We report on intermittent X-ray pulsations with a frequency of 442.36 Hz from the neutron-star X-ray binary SAX J1748.9–2021 in the globular cluster NGC 6440. The pulsations were seen during both 2001 and 2005 outbursts of the source, but only intermittently, appearing and disappearing on timescales of hundreds of seconds. We find a suggestive relation between the occurrence of type-I X-ray bur...
